Mobile technology, though not ubiquitous, is
becoming a relevant tool for education both in
secondary and tertiary education. School districts tend
to ban cell phones and other mobile technology citing
fears of distraction, cheating, bullying, and other issues
as well. Many school districts across the nation are
now using cell phones and other mobile devices, like
the iPod Touch, as a tool for learning.
For many schools, this means purchasing classroom
sets of smart phones or iPods, using district owned
technology to help avoid some of the issues for which
these tools are banned. However, other districts are
beginning to allow student owned devices to be
utilized for learning.
Each of these cases comes with its own set of issues,
policy decisions, teacher training, costs, etc. Esquared
consulting will work with schools and teachers to
assist them in developing quality, student-centered learning
environments using mobile devices, offering
consultation and training.
